The Land Clearing Process: What to Expect

Clearing Trees and Brush
The first step in most land clearing projects is removing trees, brush, and undergrowth. Depending on the size of the property and the density of vegetation, this can involve everything from chainsaw work to heavy equipment like excavators and mulchers.
Stump Removal and Grubbing
Cutting down trees is only half the job. Stumps and root systems need to be removed to prepare the ground for construction. Grubbing involves pulling out roots and organic material from below the surface so the soil is clean and ready for grading.
Topsoil Stripping and Stockpiling
Good topsoil is valuable. During land clearing, we strip and stockpile topsoil separately so it can be redistributed later for landscaping, gardens, or erosion control.
Rough Grading
Once the site is cleared and grubbed, rough grading shapes the land to the approximate elevations needed for the project. This sets the stage for utility work, foundation excavation, and road building.
Planning Ahead
If you're thinking about clearing land for a new build or development, start the conversation early. Permits, environmental considerations, and seasonal timing can all affect the schedule.
